Hmm, really? Taking out the spare makes it oversteer more? I thought more weight in the rear
made the car prone to oversteer ( I am thinking of the Porsches with their rear engines here).

Also yes I was on the gas in the corner, but I wasn't stabbing it. I put the brakes on after I felt the rear end start coming around.

What should I do to counter-act oversteer better next time.

Thanks!!

Well, it depends, were you pressing on the gas in the corner? Putting on the brake when you're sliding could of made it worse too. Taking the spare tire out makes the car oversteer more, you want to have weight on the rear tires to have traction.
