Hey Jason,

What came with your mounting kit? My wing is the OEM one with the 3rd brake light too. I didn't think about it, but when you mentioned you had to drill 5 holes I began to wonder if I have the right mounting kit. The kit I have (51 71 2 260 329) pretty much shows in the instructions a wing without a 3rd brake light. The kit came with 4 little drill hole templates, 4 screws, and 2 clear protective decals.

Now, I'm wondering if I should have received 5 drill hole templates. I menioned to the parts guy I had the wing with the 3rd brake light so I just assumed he got me the right kit. Did your kit have some kind of template for the hole for the 3rd brake light wiring?

I forgot the part # but it came with the same stuff you got. It was like 20 bucks. What I did was using the templates, made the 4 holes for the screws first, then without peeling the film off the double sided tape and screwing the screws in just enough to have the wing lined up the way it should, eye where the hole for the third brake light wire should be. That part is pretty important cause once the wing and the trunk is flush, the wire for the brake light and the hole for it has to line up or else the wing would not fit right. Then there is the part where you have to fish the wire. If you have more questions, you can e-mail me at [email protected]
