Egg smell when engine revved high (archive)

I have two questions, I am wondering anyone can answer, either via personal experience or word of mouth. First off, does anyone notice that when you are in 1st flooring it and it hits say 6k rpm and then you throw it into 2nd really quickly, and floor it the rpms will "hang" at 6k or wherever you had it the highest in 1st??
My second question is does anyone notice when you rev your engine at high rpms and then park somewhere or slow down an eggy, fart smell??? Is something bad happening to the catlyitic converter??
