if down shifting while braking the wheels only stop abruptly only if you're releasing to clutch too quickly. Ease it out and let the engine do help slow the car, then by the time your in the turn the clutch will be completely released and you are in the proper gear to exit the turn.

On the track, heel toe allows you to be on the gas instantly after releasing the brake. Gives you a slight edge exiting a turn over someone who does not heel toe. Using this technique on the street will only get you in a wreck...
