Cutting 1/4" off the end of the bolt is fine, just be careful not to booger the threads... clamp it in a vise between two pieces of wood.

I have screwed the stop as far as it goes - although the clutch is definitely disengaged - the feel on the stick shift is slightly hampered - in other words I can pull it into second without some resistance - I am thinking of hacksawing a 1/4 inch off the bolt - anybody else run into this - is the adjustment of my clutch to low to begin with?
