From what you've said, it sounds as if you've never driven in a Turboed or SCed car.

I have an ERT SC M3. The car puts out roughly 300hps at the wheels.
I can upgrade to get more juice, but there are many sacrifices that come into play at that point. Parts start to break, and it can be very costly. Right now in a matter of hours I can bring the car to stock.

What I deduced is that the Euro M3 is designed to handle 330hp, so the 340 or so I'm producing should not surpass the ratings set for the internal mechanics.
I've had several interresting highway encounters, and no one has beaten yet.(knock on wood)
I've raced a modified a Mazda RX7s, a Stillen prepped 300Zs, Porsche 996 Carrera, moded Mustang Cobra...Nothing! As soon as the car hit 5400rpms...
C ya~~
My buddy has a 450hp Turbo 318ti on the way... It will be unsurpassable... No question
But parts will break like crazy.

These cars are not happy at high, temperatures.
Bottom line is, I'm certain that there are plenty of faster cars out there, but they are a minority out there.
You need to consider :
Budget
Driving habbits/frequency of use
Access to labor
DRIVING SKILLS!etc...

The turbo is like a second wife or girlfriend. Very needy.

Good luck

Happy Motoring

have a Mech Tech turbo system for under $5K? Superchargers just plain suck. No boost before 4K, weak torque, parasitic HP loss, can't control the boost, belt-driven problems, etc. The turbo is obviously superior, but I have yet to see someone post anything about Mech Tech or a system they recently installed from them. I guess people are just stupid and like giving INCOMPETENT shops like RMS business for a product that flat out does not perform. Ever seen a supercharged race car that actually won anything?
