Not trying to fight with ya, but here are a few questions:

- You say that there is a "gap between the airbox adapter and the front grill" and without some sort of shielding, engine heat will travel into the airbox. Is you're moving forward, how would engine heat go forward to enter the airbox?

- Ram air intake? How much of a pressure differential do you think that mod will seriously produce? I think the only ram air intake that I've heard is effective is the one on the Kawasaki bikes (I think those are the ones) and a few of the exotic cars. There's so much leakage from under the headlamps, from all the way down in the left/front side of the engine compartment, I'm not sure why you guys are cutting the water protection piece.

What you are hearing at 3500 rpms happens with or without the baffle after the air filter. The baffle just muffles it, but it also helps airflow. It sounds to me that you're experiencing the psychological dyno.

The best thing out there is an ECIS intake with an ITG filter. The base of the ITG filter is horn shaped similar to the baffle that you've just removed after the air filter. It helps considerably in smoothing out the air flow.

FWIW,
Chester

Yes the removal water baffle helps alot. However you will not get full potential until you direct all that incoming air into the airbox. If you look at the front half of the intake you notice that there is a gap between the airbox adapter and the front grill. you also notice that there is nothing blocking off engine heat from entering the airbox as well. so if you build a small "heat sheild" this will direct air straight into the airbox and also keep engine heat out, there buy improving the performance of your car expecially at high speeds because this will act as a "ram air" intake. I will post pictures of mine very soon. just my 2 cents
