Question about gear grinding... (archive)

I was downshifting the other day while goign into a corner, and I got lazy and didn't double clutch (Being as it isn't really necesary with synchros anyway). The only thing is that when I downshifted into 1st my gears started to grind and I had to lay off of them.

Should I just not try hard downshifts into 1st, or should I do something like get redline fluid??? Is this normal?
