Pressure release clutch on 98 M3? (archive)

I just drove a 98 M3 with 25,000 miles and the clutch had a "pop" at teh end of it. It shifted fine and did not slip gears. The salesman told me that the M3s had a "pressure release clutch" and that was normal. Any input? Is this bs or are they supposed to do that? Thask for the help!
