I've got a Nikon 990 that has been wonderful, but at $800 or so it's a bit out of your price range. Check the web site called Steve's Digicams for a ton of reviews on the latest/greatest digital cameras.


Just about any of the newer digital cameras from Nikon, Canon, Kodak, etc. will give you good service. That said, I would highly recommend that you get something that uses the Compact Flash memory and standard AA batteries.
