smell gas when taking sharp turns (archive)

on a 95 M3, when i take sharp turns around 30-50mph (freeway entrance or exit) i smell gas . i replaced my fuel cap, which did not help. anyone seen such a thing. i also had fuel gauge problem which did not not work , i ended up replacing one of the sending units under the rear seat (the cheap sending unit, there is 2 sending units, my mechanic told me the cheaper one goes bad, the other one is a floater which is around 240.00) the sending unit i got is 60.00) and the gauge is fine. anyone seen the smell problem? thanks.
