I drive an M3 for all the "wrong" reasons too! I'm a guy and I need to pick up women! I don't mind that it's a fast car too.
As far as learning how to drive... I still remember the torturous week my dad taught me how to drive stick... geez its hard on your engine to stall, I suggest using a dummy car and learn to shift fast in an empty parking lot.
