You have had a non-adjustable drivers mirror for about four months now.

You have been reluctant to get a Bently manual.

You have been reluctant to take you car in for service.

Are there multiple drivers with the need to adjust the drivers mirror??

You have been at risk and are putting other drivers at risk. Please get it fixed ASAP.

Bentley manual shows E36 non-sport mirror housing removal (section 510). Is it same procedure for M3 coupe sport mirrors?

It looks like someone already tried to work on it. A spade lug connector is missing from one of the wires. The #24 10A fuse was replaced with a 7.5A fuse. I have no idea WHO worked on it (I guess one of the hazards of buying a used car). If it was another dealer, then I'm sure my local dealer would do the work under warranty. But I have no idea and neither will they. So I thought I'd try to resolve it myself first. If I have to, then I will certainly bring it in. I don't think it's rocket science but the owner's manual and Bentley manual just do not provide any good information or theory of op. For example,

1] Owner's manual says mirrors are heated with key in position 2 "according to outside temp" but it doesn't say at what outside temp.

2] One mirror measures (out-of-circuit) 115-Ohm and the other 2000-Ohm, across the two lugs on the mirror for the heating.

3] It doesn't say WHERE the mirror heating thermostat is located (on the motor or in the car somewhere).

4] The Bentley manual wiring is somewhat different for my car (for 98 year).

So it's a challenge and I'm trying to get some information. If anyone knows, great, if not, that's OK too.

Sorry for the long-"winded" post.

are you talking about? Are you replying to some other post? I'm talking about a power mirror issue. I can see out of it just fine. What safety issue are you referring to exactly? Is there some TSB?

Anybody else know what Chris is talking about?

It's been about 3 mo, since I noticed the problem. I won't have owned the car for four months until June 6th. But anyway, I DID BUY A BENTLEY MANUAL - CAN"T YOU READ!?!?!?! The manual is not very helpful. In fact it does NOT explain the E36 M3 mirror housing removal, thus the question. I explained why I didn't take it in for service yet - because someone else worked on it already and left it miswired. There is NO safety issue - so what's your problem. If you can't provide some constructive help, shut the hell up, would you?
