How to remove sensor/switch in passenger air duct. (archive)

My understanding is that this round metal disk in the passenger air duct controls voltage for mirror heaters and windshield washer nozzle heaters. I think it controls voltage to heaters based on ambient temp. If cold enough, heaters get power.

Anybody removed (or tested) this device before? I pulled but it's not moving.
