i have no technical expertise, and can only summarize previous discussions on this board and on the email digests. most people don't seem to believe in the hinged design, I have read very few posts suggesting any material or even slightly noticable gain in performance. the BMW Motorsport one carried by Bekkers is a solid unit with no hinges but it won't fit later model cars with traction control. it seemed JTD made one that was modeled after the motorsport one but it was too expensive to make so they discontinued it.
in any case, even those I hear don't make THAT much of a difference if you already have some other reinforcement such as an xbrace. the gain is probably minimal, but more so than a hinged design. if you already have a roll cage and thats stiffened up the car, i wouldn't spend the extra dough. i had a dinan one just to match my CAI which i love, but based on the feedback i sold it.

had it on my car for 4 years. I never did notice a difference when I put it on. My car has a welded cage, so it's very stiff, but everyone(racers) still use a tower brace. Are you sure it's shit, cause I'm ready to call Beckers and get the MS factory piece.
