The Kelley Blue Book suggests that a salvage title lowers Blue Book value by 50%. Kelley calls this the "industry" standard, but does not say what "industry"... Most licensed dealers
I have discussed this issue with in the Bay Area say that they would buy a BMW with a salvage title, but would buy @ 50% of wholesale book and sell @ 50% of retail book. A few dealers say that they would not buy a BMW without a clean title. On the other hand I have come accross dealers and "private parties" who buy M3s with salvage titles and "detail for retail" - then advertise them in the local paper @ the same high ($30-33k) price as a good, clean car. The answer is that a willing buyer will pay whatever he thinks is a "good" price. BTW, most salvage cars are low mileage cars. Caveat Emptor!
