Long standing debate about which is better. Even between the engineers. Some think mono tube designs shed heat faster therefore better design. Twin tube has more area for oil resivoir therefore better damping. Generally for racing the former design for ride comfort the later especially for shorter shocks. Same reason for separate resivoir on motorcycle rear mono-shocks
