OK, took some time aside from porn surfing and web development to buy another Dinan CAI and the ECIS heat shield....
I was doing some reading about the shielding properties of carbon fiber. IN a nutshell, it doesn't. Thus in stop and go traffic, the Carbon fiber tubing of the Dinan CAI doesn't do much to keep heat down. Albeit the filter is breathing in from a relatively cool source and at speed, feeds very fresh cool air into the intake.
What you see above is a nice compromise. The ECIS heatshield (yes Shawn, that's what I was working on :] ), keeps the Dinan Carbon tubing nice and cool, much like it does with the regular ECIS set-up.
Even after a warm drive home in traffic, the Carbon tubing is nice and cool....
It (the CAI tubing) will however still soak some heat if the car spends a LONG time at a standstill, but no where near the "too hot to touch".
