Most of these warranties are in the neighborhood of let's say 2k to choose an easy number to work with. I have seen many responses that say the only problems that are common to M3's are things like maybe the water pump or 02 sensor. This is with agressive driving and well into 100k+ mileage. If your car recently went through inspection 2 with no problems, and you take all the preventave maitnenance as suggested, is the etended warranty not an over-precaution?

I think the only true area where you can benefit, unless you have a pre-existing condition, would be small electrical problems or those with some of the many gadgets as gismos that can easily faulter. But say on average this type of small issue costs $200 to repair, that would mean 10 things would have to go wrong in order for you to recoup your initial investment.

I made the decision to just take the best care I can with my M3, and to put the extra $$ into the new Yokohama's that I need.

I bought a CPO 97 M3/2 and it has that 4yr/50k warranty and 6yr/100k "drivetrain". I have little idea what this second part is about and I don't have a good feeling that it covers much. I am planning to get an extended warranty for 6yrs (starting from that day I buy it)/100k (total odometer) for real warranty. I got a quote for $1850 (no deductible). Please advice if there are issues I am not seeing here. I also see an overlap of coverage. Is that even signifant? Please help!
