clutch wearing out? (archive)

I hadn't drivven the M for about a week and decided that last night I would take it out for the evening. I started noticing that after i complete a shift and hit the gas, the RPM gauge does not seem to move for a second or so.. then it increases normally. Otherwise the car seems to drive fine. If i disengage the clutch while driving, the RPM needle drops quickly to idle, as normal.

does this sound like i'm in for clutch replacement? are there any other things i should watch out for?
