I just installed that 8017. It seems to work just fine with all types of media. Also, it makes the stock HK sound system I have sound infinitely better. It was so muddy before. There is still the issue of the "Hi-fi" button (to use or not to use), which adds another variable to setting the sound up.
This unit does NOT have multiple color choices for the screen itself. I wish it did like the regular CD unit. You can only change button color from green to red. I have to ask Kenwood, "why red?" What about amber? Gee, it's only one of the two most common dash colors.
Oh, well...you can hardly see the button backlight in bright sunlight anyway, and the red is bearable at night.
Question:
The damn FM antenna wires don't match (two different connectors). The factory connector is a short L-shaped one and the Kenwood is the traditional long cylinder. Anyone know of an adapter for this? Or do I need to simply cut and attach a different plug to the factory end?

it has like 648 colors. and a large screen. should be able to adjust it so it reasonably blends in with your orange interior lights.
