I was on my way to Portland, Oregan. As I drove over Everett, WA, I found myself a good way of avoiding falling asleep during the long drive at 3:00 am in the morning: occupying the passing line and passing everyone on I-5 with a little more speed. After driving at 80~90 mmp for an hour, I figured someone was right up to my ass and showing the sign that he wanna pass me. I watched my rear mirrior and saw the pair of headlights egging on me gradually. At 70something mph, I decided to give my ///M a little more gas to see if this guy was really up to the catch. After I created a gap about 5 car length, this guy followed with immediate response. 5 car length instantly got expensed and I was forced to make a decision. It's whether I let him pass by or keep going. Unfortunately, I made a terribly wrong move which cost my graceful 7 hours spent in a local jail in Everett, WA.
Pedal to the metal. my speedo kept climbing up, and when my foot was off my gas, I was already at 105 mph. All of a sudden, this unknown vehicle flashed police lights and I was like what the fuck!! undercover cop??!! Within millionth seconds, I pulled my car over and was ready for a big ticket. However, something more horrible just happened. This police officer used his microphone and ordered me to step outside of my car and put my both hands on the hood of his car with legs spread open. I watched "COPS" all the time on Fox channel, and didn't expect myself to be one of the bad guys shown on TV. Today, at 4:00 am, I just made my first appearance to the public. "hi everyone, how's my car look?"I tried to be as cooperative as possible.
The state patrol called the tow truck to impouond my M3, and brought me to the loca jail immediately, for reckless driving. He told me " I have been following you for more than 10 miles and you are still pulling away from me when I am at 90 mph. You are the stupidest driver I have even seen so far. You are going to jail now. You have the right to remain silence.....blah blah blah....." I was a little, er, very shocked after his speech that made me speechless. The racer who tried to push me from behind every single time as I gun it, was the officer. What the hell.
Now I am bailed out, and waiting fot a court hearing on Wednesday next week. I don't know what I am gonna get, but it sure won't look pretty. I don't even know whether I should dispute anything because everything was caught on tape. Is the judge gonna believe what I believe to be true? I am nervous, adn hoping someone on this board could provide me with constructive feedback. That would be greatly appreciated if you guys can give me any clue of what I should say or what I might get after the hearing, in terms of your experice.
One last thing, a bad thing, about today's incident was that all the officers in the jail were all making fun of me after they knew why I was there, and what kinda car I drive. "M3? Just do it, and I will catch it!! ha ha ha..." voiced several times in the hallway. I felt really bad, about my car and myself of giving a bad name to all the M3 enthusiasts.
Anyway, if you have read this far, I would like to thank you for your time and hopefully someone else could learn a lesson from my experience. I learnt it the hard way, and I want you all to be able to avoid it, somehow.
sorry for the long post guys.
p.s. : I just don't understand why this officer wouldn't pull me over when I was already speeding at 80 mph as he initiated the contact?? I felt like it's a trap......
to tell the court that you were fearful for your
safety and speed up to avoid a confrontation and
accident with whom you thought was a regular driver, not a cop. Tell them you didn't think about pulling over to let them pass, you just forgot. Sounds silly, but I've tried it with good
results. Matter of fact, I have to go to court
before the end of the month!!!
