I had a Dinan CAI on my car and i had the software. However i read somewhere that the software does little to nothing for improvement gains. A friend just put one on without the shoftware and he said it runs fine. A little tip, they work better with a heat shield. the carbon fiber is not a very good insulator against the heat in your engine. As far as the mass air meter, the performance gains there are not worth the money, spend it on a fly wheel or striaght pipe cat replacements.

CARBON FIBRE is a very good heat insulator.I have a yoshimura stainless duplex exaust on my mtorcycle. The pipe has a carbon fibre cannister[muffler]and i can rest my hand on the muffler for 20 minutes of riding and not be burned. The muffler just doesnt conduct heat.
