New Escort tried to race me!!! more (archive)

I pulled up to the light next to a new ford escort. This guy was with his girl. He briefly looked over then back forward.
I did not plan to race him since it would be a waste of my gas. Light turns green and I hear him gun it. At that instant I figure what the heck, Im game. He had a bout 3/4 car length on my from the jump. By the time I had redlined first gear I had pulled ahead of him by 1/4 car length! What a fool he was. Second gear and he chirps is tires. I go to second and I leave him in the dust.
It was a good adrenaline rush any way.
