I picked one up for my '97 lux (with harman kardon) and it was a definate good buy. Purchased from Bavauto... took about a week to get to me. The hook up couldn't be much easier. It comes with a bundled harness (about 3 or 4 feet long) with the connectors made up to match the M3's factory amplifier. You unplug a connector on the factory amp, plug in their harness, and then reconnect that plug. Hardest part was taking out the connector in the factory amp the first time. Mine was a little "tight" and reluctant to come out. Other than that the install was a no-brainer.

As for sound, its a VERY powerful system. It seems well rounded for just about any style of music. I am not into much rap/dance/pop type music, but the Basslink unit makes these styles really come alive. I love the Harman Kardon upgraded system, but I feel this unit filled in a "gap". I realized when I purchased the unit, there were places selling basslinks for ridiculously cheap prices, but no one offered install help or diagrams, let alone a pre-wired BMW connection. Also, I didn't want to have to leave my car with a stereo shop and have them monkeying around... the thought of someone cutting/splicing/soldering/hacking through my factory system was reason enough to buy BavAuto's plug 'n play system instead.

Hope this info helped. Good luck!
