having driven both on more than a few occassions I'd have to say that it's a no brainer when you hop out of the Z06. Don't get me wrong, I raved about the M3 to everyone I knew after driving it, but the Z06 just flat out is scary. 0-60 times will never give you that great of a comparison, even though they do vary about .4-.5 seconds from each other (which, while in the 4-second range, IS quite a difference...not the same as 8.0 vs 8.5-second runs...we're talking about reducing the 0-60time by over 12%!)
a 12.6 quartermile is a big difference over a 13.1. Look at the trap speeds. That means this Z06 is comparable to a 550 Maranello, at least to the trap time, and I would never compare the acceleration of a Maranello to an E46 after having ridden in that beast.
The E46 M3 is awesome, but let's face it--it's more comparable in straight-line acceleration (for those of you who care) to more of a C5 6-sp Vette, or an F355 Berlinetta (Don't even go there comparing it to a Modena F1, ;), that sucker is very quick). CYA>PM3
