Mine is OBD-I. Did the five pump trick today and it worked fine. Make sure that you have the key in the on position so that all the gauge lights are lit and then pump the pedal 5 times in 5 seconds. It takes a second for the check engine light to start flashing.

Now if I could just get more info on what 1216 code means and possible remedys.

Well maybe I am a total dolt then - I will try again and see what happens - maybe I am doing it too slow.

I got a list of all codes from Bonneville Motor Works http://www.bonnevillemotorwerks.com/fault.html
They define what 1216 is on there.
