I have two 98 cars, an A4 and a (newly acquired) M3. Compared to the A4, the M3 was already outdated in 98 when it left the factory, at least when comparing the interiors. The E36 interior has some clear misses compared to the Audi: the climate control is fussier, the vents are awkwardly placed and offer a very small range of adjustments, not all switches/controls are lit at night (in a fast car they should be, so you can find them with a quick glance), the speedo is small and crowded with unnecessary KM readings, let's not even begin to talk about the quality of the materials.

Of course, it makes up and more for these shortcomings with Good things like: handling, brakes, engine etc. Which is why I bought the car for. All the faults are easily forgotten in this car.

To my eye, the outside looks very nice, especially with all the moldings painted on my silver car. I do like the E46 M3 as well, but I think the E36 M3 will age very gracefully.

If you compare it with another car, the situation may be different. I can only speak for what I know firsthand.

Let me put it this way: I would never had bought a used garden-variety E36 car, but I did not hesitate with the M3.

Just my opinion, of course.

I think the m3 is still a great looking car but many people, have been criticizing its dated looks, what do you think of the cars exterior and interior?

I have to admit that the interior is a bit outdated compared to new cars today.

Thanks,
Mike
