NEVER get it inspected by whoever dealer brings it to. Also, DRIVE to an independent mechanic yourself (with the dealer, if he wants to tag along).

Don't forget.. because this is a lease car, it DID come from auction. I've been to MANY auctions, and I can tell you that the cars go there for 2 reasons.

1) Need a quick sale (for insurance companies, etc).
2) Something was not right with the car, where whoever leased the car coudln't resell it without putting money into it, and sold it at the auction, for easier cash, and letting the dealer take care of all the work, and saving money doing it.

That dealer (especially since you're in Philly area)... IS playing you. I'm almost 100% sure.

Another thing... M3's aren't THAT popular.. they're demanded, but only among enthusiasts... all others just see it as a regular BMW. So the $100 was a waste... but that's my oppinion.

Anyway... if I were you, I would NOT buy that car.. I haven't seen it, but just based on it's history, it's value is much lower than $26k.

The exterior is VERY easy to buff/clean, as well as the interior. You can make any old car look new, it just takes time and/or money. I would personally worry about the fact htat it was a lease car.. with MANY drivers... and I'm SURE they beat on it.

Seriously.. $25,995 isn't the best price, but certainly not the worst. It's possible to find a mint one with such milage for that much money, WITH a clean record.. from a first owner. It just depends on how much time you have.

Anyway... I would personally not do it, but if you do, make SURE you don't pay for him to take it to some "independent mechanic," who will not even let you watch him do the work. There's DEFENITELY something fishy in that. You're just paying to screw yourself.

Seems that the shop that is planned to do the inspection will not let me watch....also, the dealer referred me to these guys, and is bringing the car over for me.....but I get to pay for the inspection....am I getting taken for a ride here....hummmm......
