So afraid of mis-shifting!! (archive)

Is there anyway to prevent this from happening. How do you guys keep your sanity about you from fear of this happening.

Also .. if i was to misshift but quickly catch it with the clutch in, would that save my car from engine damage.
I had an 88 Integra, and I really trashed that car, I mis-shifted a few times (although never at redline), but luckily clutched in. Never had any damage. On the M3 if a mis-shift does occur are you pretty much toast???

Any good shift kits that may make it harder to mis-shift?
