mainly electrical problems.... you maybe just asking for trouble if the water goes in the wrong places. You don't want to screw around with the electrical system.. that can be a pain.

Also, do NOT spray cold water on a hot engine/exhaust manifold.. or don't spray water period....

normally i detail the engine for an hour or so with a paper towel, getting rid of all the dust in the engine bay.

but is it safe to hose down the engine instead? i cant think of any components that need to be covered up/dry on the car.
