I had mine professionally cleaned and now just use a regular cleaner and towels every couple of weeks to keep dust and grime off. Every so often, I'll use Vinylex on pretty much everything. Gives the bay and motor a very nice detailed appearance.

I used to hose my '98 Civic's engine bay down periodically and had no problems. But I stopped doing it after hearing too many horror stories. If you try it, don't get any water anywhere near the passenger side firewall, that's where your computer is.
