parking brake on. I always use the parking brake. I was told that if you park the car and leave it in gear without the e-brake on, the weight of the car is resting on the transmission. Sure, the car won't go anywhere when it's parked "in gear", but do you want your transmission holding up 3100+ lbs for an extended length of time?

I always shutoff my car with the clutch pedal in, car in 1st gear (reverse if I'm on a steep hill) and my foot on the brake pedal. I shutoff the car, apply the parking brake, take my foot off the brake pedal, THEN release the clutch pedal. This assures that the parking brake is doing its job. It might sound like a dumb routine, but it's second nature to me.

Also, wouldn't blocks do some kind of damage to the tires if parked on a non-level surface for an extended period of time? (Think of the corners of the blocks digging into the tires). And, blocks can slide across the ground, can't they?

Just my opinion,
-Josh
