Minutes after my accident, I called my dealer and asked who they could recommend. They set me up with a shop that was working on 5 or 6 other BMW's at the time. For the most part, they did excellent work. They missed some little things but happily fixed them. The bad news was that it took 3 months to get it back. Most of the wait is waiting for parts.
I learned a couple of things from this mess. Because my rental car cost me $2070 out of pocket, I would have been better off buying a car and selling it after 3 months. The other is that you have to let the shop know this is your baby. Don't be too much of an asshole or they'll do a half-ass job just to get rid of you. Also, make sure they're using M3 parts, not 325/328 parts.
The good news is my car is now literally better than when I bought at 20k miles (27k now).
Good luck to you,
