I had my car detailed Thursday night, and the detailer (also a coworker and friend for 14 years) told me to try a product available for dyeing leather shoes. It looks like one of those shoe polish touch up markers with the fat sponge tip. He said I can get it in a color that matches the seat very closely.

I haven't tried it, as I think that "close enough" in the color department might look worse than the bolster wear.

If you have a reputable dealer (none around here or I would go this route) they have the materials necessary to recondition the seats. A girl I know had the dealer redo her front seats and she said they came out looking practically new. How dye can combat the roughness of a worn seat is a mystery to me, but i'm just repeating what she told me.
