I haven't had a ticket for years (**knock on wood**), but it took me 3 reckless driving charges-2 stuck, and a few speeding tickets to slow down. Actually, it was the insurances costs that got me, not the fines.
Reckless is a BS charge. On all 3 of my counts, I was speeding but not recklessly endangering mine or anyone else's safety.
On my first RD, I pled guilty (I was going EXACTLY 20mph over). I think he would have cut me a bit of slack if I had taken another approach. The other 2, I got lawyers. One cost me $300 and got the charge reduced to a small 3pt Improper driving. The other was a Public Def (bad move), so nothing really changed.
I took driving clases both times.
