I had a similar problem that became very big real fast. The crimped on line under the right side (passenger side) access plate came off. I dumped a qtr tank in about 2 miles. Replaced the crimped with a screw type and no problems since. I have heard of others with same pop off in 95 cars.
I occasionally smell gas from the rear of my '94 euro. There is no pattern or set time it occurs (other than when there's a windows down). I removed the rear seat and removed the 2 covers to access the fuel lines at the top of the tank. The dirt on the 2 passenger side lines entering the tank seemed slightly damp - but not wet. There are no obvious cracks on the white tank covers (where the lines connect). Both gas lines on the passenger side have screw-type clamps - the other side has the permanent crimpted style fasteners (perhaps a mod?). I've inspected the undercarriage and found what looked to be gas stains on the passenger side.

Any similar experiences or suggestions?
TIA
c.
