But! At this point, these were terrorist attacks and NOTHING more. It may not have even been bin Lauden (although a very good chance it is). My point is that this was not a military attack and is not linkable to a government at this time. That means we have NO army to fight, no enemy besides a terrorist group to target. If 10K people dies, will we find 10K terrorists to kill? Or find ourselves a "satisfying" victory? I don't believe we will.
As for the planning, you are correct that many people are involved, but this attack was simple in its planning in that they did not need specialized equipment or training. This plan had been thought of long ago by the same guy that bombed the basement of the building. I agree with you this is horribly frustrating and angering...since we have no clear enemy to retaliate against. That is why it is not an act of war, but terrorism.
Basically I agree with what you are saying...I just can't stand anyone comparing this to Pearl...this was not a military operation, if it was we'd have someone to fight.

You're a bit off base in saying this is a relatively easy thing to pull off. Beyond the hundreds of individuals that are directly related to terrorist organizations, there are governments that harbor these groups. The planning and training for something like this does not take place in some back office. Beyond the obvious, these governments promote terrorist activities through their state-run media. Let me just say that once we find the terrorists responsible, governments had better cooperate. We will certianly discover who are friends are throughout the world. If bin Lauden is found to be in the slightest way involved in this ordeal, the Taleban leadership is also responsible. they understood what training was taking place within their borders. it is the responsibility of our leadership to pretect American citizens. That now means that we must take out these threats, regardless of borders.
