You need a special cam allighning tool, and also a mechanic to give you advice when you need it. I pulled my motor out myself, but had a little trouble putting in the cams and allighning the vanos gear. If you know someone that you can call that does this all the time then it is not so hard(but you need the tool) The valve alighning tool comes with a bracket that locks the cams in one place, and also a pin that holds the flywheel in place. Trust me! The vanos gear is a bitch to allign.
Good luck
