Lets look at the numbers again:
AA got 304 hp for M5 and 248 hp for M3, if you believe the two dynos are putting out numbers within 1% then the adjustment factor for the cars will be:

00 M5 = 394/304, 1.30
01 M3 = 333/248, 1.34

If you think about it, that is a terrible loss, I tend to believe both of these cars have better loss factors than the E36.
