The top is tight, with no leaks, but so far it has not quite been 100% trouble free. While nothing too terrible, right now the mechanism is catching in the process where the back window flips up to allow the boot to open (before the ragtop plunges into the open container) but was fixed in a day under warrantee.
The car is fairly rigid. It sold new for the same price as an E36 M3, and while resale is not as strong, it has held its value quite well (although this is somewhat expected in the Florida area where it is kept). Since convertibles are much les desireable here in Ma., Norm, I bet you could pick one up for a great price in the coming months.
As for hardtop, as of five months ago they were still available. Any specific color in mind? I can check around. Linked is a picture of my father in the car joking it up for the camera.
Hey Chris, hope you are well. Of course, my question about resale value without specifying location was kind of stupid. FL vs. MA resale makes sense. I haven't really decided. I figure if I could pick one up (which didn't have hardtop) and if I could purchase hardtop from dealer, then it would probably be about as tight as a coupe/sedan and have a heated rear window for the winter too! Anyway, not sure yet. It would have to be a 5-spd for me. I think many are auto but there are some 5-spds around I think.
Does that screen in the back come on the M3c too?
I guess trunk space suffers a bit (w/no fold-down rears) huh?
Thanks for the shout!
