I'm sorry, but I feel you made a GRAVE mistake...all I can tell you is that my (almost) seven year old 96K mile BMW is as solid as my 2 year old 43K mile VW/Audi (and before anyone doubts it, they're made on the same assembly line, from all the same parts, they even have the same detail pieces and interior pieces...). But it get's even worse for you, my friend, see there's MUCH more involved than solid build quality, there's suspension component life and design, there's drivetrain build quality, there's attention to detail, there's ease of maintenance....Did you ever appreciate changing the oil filter in your M3, say bye-bye to that...did you appreciate the price of BMW parts (unbelievably cheap on the web), say bye-bye to that...

I don't think the Passat/A4/S4 is a bad car, it's a very nice run-of-the-mill German sedan...but our M3's are something special.....I'm sorry to hear about your trade and I wish you the best...
