Different side skirts... Please explain. (archive)

Ok, I was looking at pictures of other M3's comparing mine and I noticed that the side skirts are a little different. I have the ones in this picture (also an M3, this is the one from edmunds website)

And the ones that I thought were standard are:

So, my question is: which are the right side skirts for the 96? The first picture (the ones that I have) or the second picture?
