The ECU is located in front of the Glove Box under the hood. You will see 3 plastic push pins on a rubber cover on the firewall. If you stand at the front of the car, it will be on the far left back wall. If you pull those push pins out, (use a screw driver to pull the smaller one out a little, then the whole thing comes out), the rubber cover will fold down. There is black plastic cover held in by 3 or 4 phillps head screws. Once you remove those, you will see the silver ECU box.

I dont have an recommendations, but I dont think your ECU will be very wet. It is pretty well sealed, and unless you have some major holes in that area, it shouldnt be exposed at all.

It sounds like some wiring might just be wet, and shorting out, or there is some water on the coils, which are on top of hte spark plugs under the black engine cover. Let it dry awhile and try again. Over night should dry it out enough.

I drove my 95 M3 through a touchless car wash and it died half way through the wash cycle. and it would not restart. I have gone though a few trouble shooting steps and all I could find was no spark. I think I found the ecu but I am not sure. please help if you have any suggestions thanks again and in the future....
