Having recently purchased a 95 M3, here are my recommendations. Assuming the odo shows more than 60,000 miles, and the following original parts are still on the car, replace them immediately. If you don't, you'll only have to do so at the most inopportune times.

1) replace the original water pump with a "genuine" BMW replacement pump. Regrettably, they're only available with the "composite" impeller. The much heralded "metal" impeller was a victim of German government regulation.

2)replace the original thermostat housing.

3) replace the original radiator. It's plastic neck develops the plastic equivalent of osteoporosis, at or about 60 to 80k miles, and fractures more easily than your grandma's hip.

4) replace the original fuel pump. There's no secondary pump and when it fails, AS IT WILL, you're walkin'.

5) replace the original rear shock mount bushings (they're wornout) and check the integrity of the mounts themselves.

6) I know you only asked for 5 but I'd lay in a supply of internal door latches and B Pillar seat belt mount covers--you'll need them. These li'l doodads popoff all the time
