According to today's NY Times critique of the e46. Said that although the e46 has higher ultimate limits and is clearly faster, the the e46 understeers way too much and lacks that magical e36 "feel" that makes the e36 so damn fun to drive.
I have no idea how reliable the NY Times' auto guy is . . . just thought it was an interesting tid bit.
