You make some good points, however,

1. Rolling radi is totally dependent on tire size. A 235/35/18 is shorter than a 245/40/17 and a 245/35/18 is only 1mm taller than a 245/40/17 and shorter than a 225/45/17.

2. MOI is also dependent on wheel weight and tire size. Some 18" wheels are much lighter than stock.

3. Weight is totally dependent on wheel brand/model. Many 18" wheels are lighter than stock.

4. Reduction in aspect ratio = increase in sidewall stiffness and increased possibility for damage to rim/wheel.
The increase here is so marginal, it is not worth mentioning.

5. Cost
This is wheel make/model dependent. An 18" BBS RK is very affordable, yet of very high quality and very lightweight. A much better value than any 17" "tuner" wheel.

In addition to the Pros you mentioned, 18" rims create a longer/larger tire contact patch and enable the use of bigger brakes.
