My wing is a short wing that has the center section recessed below the 2 ends where it attaches to the car. But I have seen the same wing with the LED lights from BMW OE.

The trained eye can spot a reproduction wing pretty easlily. First, they are patterned after the '95 style wing, which is flatter than the 96+ coupe wing (the newer wing has an upward arch shape that the repros do not). Also, the brake light on the repros wraps under the bottom of the poiler and uses LEDs. The OEM one had a rectangular lense which uses bulbs.

As for te paint problem, that's more of an application issue than anything.
