In Reply to: Questions on purchasing 98-00 E36 M3 (please read) posted by Future E36 M3 owner on January 27, 2002 at 21:35:54:

1. What do I need to be concern regarding M3s 98-00 built date? For instance, recalls, defects, etc.

As far as I know there were no recalls. "Defects" may include weak shock rear shock mounts that may wear prematurely and some people complain of mis-shifts, because the transmission mounts allow the trans to get off center in very hard driving. I've had no problems with either in my '97 but if you drive hard, install E30 convertible rear shock mounts and UUC has a transmission mount kit.

2. Anything very important in particular that I need to know/understand on M3s 98-00 built date?

There was no '00 E36 M3. Sedans only built through 5/98. Coupes and convertibles gone after '99 model year.

3. I found 1994 Euro White E36 M3 from classified sction of this site. What are the disadvantages in buying Euro M3 in the US?

Many. I'd think 3x before doing this. There's a lot of hack "Registered Importers" who do poor conversion work and you won't know it's history. Europeans generally drive their cars much harder than we do in the U.S. If it's a very rare Canadian '94 M3, this may not apply.

Good luck!
