Not very safe for your rear seat passengers...not very safe for you because there are now metal bars right next to your head(ie no helmet on the street).

Yes it does stiffen the car...and as an advantage you can mount you super coilovers to the cage (make it super thick and the suspension mounting points) and then you won't have to worry about the shocks popping through the body.

Weight is a big issue...the increase in stiffness will not equal the weight penalty that you will have to pay.

If it is properly made you will lose the back seats...and pretty much make it a death trap in the rear seats(if you can build around them)...the rear seat passengers will be looking at a nice metal bar to smash their brains in on.
